On September 5, 2025, in Tbilisi, during an extraordinary session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Georgia, the legitimate government of Zviad Gamsakhurdia was restored, which had been unlawfully deposed with the direct involvement of the Russian Federation following the January 6, 1992 coup. The Supreme Council of the Republic of Georgia resumed its legislative and executive functions. The responsibilities of Acting Prime Minister were entrusted to Guram Absandze, who subsequently constituted the Cabinet of Ministers.
